NSW: NRMA to keep a watch on petrol prices
SYDNEY, April 20 AAP - Motoring giant NRMA said today it will be keeping watch on petrol
prices over the Easter weekend.
NRMA Economics and Regulatory Affairs manager Jon (Jon) Kelso said motorists had complained
in the past that service stations raise petrol prices over the Easter break because demand
is higher.
"As a result of these concerns and to ensure motorists are not being taken advantage
of, NRMA will be closely monitoring what happens around Sydney over the Easter period,"
Mr Kelso said in a statemnet.
"The industry could overcome motorists' concerns about perceived profiteering by ensuring
the reasons for any price changes are transparent," he said.
Mr Kelso said petrol prices in most country towns were well above 90 cents a litre
in March and in the south coast towns of Bega, Batemans Bay and Ulladulla, petrol was
above 95 cents a litre last month.
