BBC television news report sent over the Internet

A BBC television news report has been sent via the Internet to a studio in London, UK for the first time.

The 163Mb video report was sent from the United States as an Mpeg2 file and then broadcast on the news programme BBC Breakfast.

Mpeg2 via the Internet has become a cheap and sometimes faster alternative to satellite connections, Europemedia.net reports.
